David W. Hotes

Dave Hotes is the founder of the Bethesda Law Group, and also works with Handler & Levine, LLC as Of Counsel, helping the firm’s business clients in a multitude of areas. Leveraging experience gained at large downtown and county firms, Dave provides local businesses with a new choice for practical, responsive legal counsel. As a small business owner and entrepreneur with a wealth of knowledge in the legal and regulatory environment within which small businesses operate, Dave has an understanding of the demands of growing businesses and works to address clients' unique and evolving needs.

Dave’s practice focuses on small and mid-sized businesses and the entrepreneurs who run them. He helps businesses throughout the Washington, D.C. area with comprehensive legal support and advice across a myriad of business, taxation and transactional areas. Dave’s practice areas span corporate, technology and employment law, as well as tax services and controversy, and commercial dispute resolution. Specific areas of expertise include entity formation, shareholder agreements, stock option plans, contracts, labor matters, resolution of federal, state and local tax disputes, and mergers and acquisitions.

Dave is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Maryland, Montgomery County and District of Columbia Bars. He is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Register of Attorneys and has received their AV rating, the highest rating available.

Dave received his B.S. in Accounting from Lehigh University and earned his Juris Doctor degree with Honors from the University of Maryland School of Law.
